Zeynab came to know the Lord in one of the TOC house church meetings. Her daughter Fariza was severely physically and mentally handicapped and her mother had been her primary caretaker. Shortly after Zeynab came to Christ her husband found out about her conversion and became enraged. There was no end to the beatings she received to force her renounce faith in Christ, but she stood strong. Her husband went so far as to report her conversion to Christianity to the authorities. Her husband divorced her and Zeynab was arrested. They took her to a secret location and none of her relatives have been able to find her. No one knows if she is living or dead. It is feared that she was buried like trash in some unmarked grave.
Young handicapped and disabled Fariza was taken to a mental hospital. Believers heard about what had happened to her and tried to get the hospital authorities to release her to their care. They refused and told the believers that her father was the only person who could give permission for release (Fariza’s father never went to visit her in the hospital). Fariza went into a clinical depression from missing her mother and lack of care from the mental hospital workers. And she finally died of a broken heart. There are many untold similar incidents of what happened to Zeynab and her daughter that are happening to other women and their children throughout hostile nations in the Middle East. In these lands, the price-tag for honoring Jesus as Lord and Savior is very high.
